New website

Hi there folks. Well its coming up for Xmas and I have been really busy preparing for the next 4 craft fairs as well as creating a new Kerfuffle Shop and website. www.fitakerfuffle.co.uk

In between sorting out websites and generally day dreaming I have had time to get my hands back on to silver and enjoying every moment of it.  I love working with metal.

Below are the 'Birdz and the Beezzzz' range which  I have recently completed.  The Sterling Silver jewellery will be up for sale shortly on Kerfuffle's shop and following me about to the Xmas craft fairs. I would like to add they are all handmade ...I recently got asked where I bought my jewellery in from....I don't buy in.  I  buy the raw materials to make jewellery out of.

Some more boxes and meandering into ceramics

Just to drive you insane like me ...I am sharing more boxes with you all..but to help you get over the shock of boxes I have included some ceramic jewellery.  Have to say thanks soo much to Fran Marquis for letting me use her studio on a regular bases to play with clay.  Great fun. There will be more ceramic boxes and jewellery coming out of the kiln and my head soon.  Fran runs regular ceramic classes ,so give a shout if you are interested and I will point you in her direction.
I have also been getting asked a lot about resin of late so will be sharing some resiny tips with you all in my blog shortly.  Stay tuned!

Oh and another

And yet another trinket box miraculously appears in my studio.  Well not really miraculously.   I have no idea hows these tiny things are taking me so long to make.  I had great plans today..in my head I was going to cut out another 5 of these and put together 3.  In reality one was produced.  This one is yet another copper hinged box, but instead of using a button to fasten, this one sports a silver and gold star flower that is attached to the box rather than the ribbon.  It is slightly slimmer than the previous one.
Stay tuned for my "little bird house in your soul" trinket necklaces.

Trinket box necklaces

I am still holed up in my studio going box mad.  I have literally got lost in boxes.
I was missing making some jewellery, so ended up combining  boxes and necklaces together. My latest creations are ship wrecked trinket necklaces.  The pictures above show the prototype for trinket necklaces currently being made.
As with the boxes I have been making, they are inspired by treasures that have been found in  long ago sunk ship wrecks.  The top picture shows the finished item where as the ones below are photos taken during the making process.  The copper trinkets have hinged lids with a ribbon and button fastener to keep the lid shut..ensuring that all your treasures stay locked up safe inside.

Crazy as a box of frogs

Its back to the boxes again for me. I finally got some paper clay fired and glazed and its sparked off a new need to make boxes and trinkets.  These tiny trinkets made from paper clay, driftwood, copper and sea glass have hinged lids and are inspired by my love for little treasure troves that may have been underwater in a ship wreck for a while.sea treasure.  I have ordered more copper to make copper treasure troves and just cant wait until my sheets arrive. Meanwhile  feast your eyes on "things I love" ceramic troves.

Its all so quiet..shh.. shhhhh!

it's. oh. so quiet
it'a oh. so still
you're all alone
and so peaceful until...

you fall in love
zing boom
the sky up above
zing boom
is caving in
wow bam

Anyway enough with Bjork.
It may have been quiet on my website for a while...but only because I have been very busy.
After the success of the A.O.S event in July,I have had to get making. Here are just a few of the treasures I have been creating...with many more incoming and .....don't faint or panic, but some are in colour.
"A little bird house in your soul" Necklace
                                           Fairy bangle
"Shot to the Heart" Bullet bracelet
                                           Fairy Ring
I enjoyed making "Little Bird House in your soul" necklace.  It has given me an opportunity to get the feel of working with acrylic sheet as well as incorporating resin.   I predict a lot more use of acrylic sheet in the future.

For those that did not make it too the Angus Open Studios event here is some of the work I was showing.
                                                            "Apple Angel" Necklace
"Love bug" ring...also available as a brooch
"I sit by the harbour" Bangle
"I sit by the Harbour" rings

Hubbie's cuff links.

So I'm sitting lazing on the sofa watching some sort of horror from Anytime and in he pops.
"Cuff links!, That's what  I need!"
I'm taking this as some sort of hint, especially as later during the week there is another mention about two shirts he has, that he can never wear due to a shortage of cuff links!
Well, here we go ! I finally made some for him.  He is a gardener type person hence the leaf shape.
I did have a commission a while ago to make some cuff links, so I will share them now with everyone.

Busy busy busy

In between hobbling about and melting my brain sorting out websites and new packaging, I have actually had some time for fun.  I had been planning a day for casting for quite some while and finally on Sunday I was able to grab the opportunity to do so.  I had the idea of my "angel apples" for quite some time . Here is the first one that I managed to put together today and will be on show as brooches at the AOS, Women's Golf Open.
Also I was finally able to start my "Harbour" range. This ring as with all the harbour range contains mixed media including seaweed and then frosted. And no, I did not stop there I began a series of love bug brooches and started my Scottish folk song range. These pieces are not yet polished up but thought I would show  them anyways. I will be putting all these items up for sale shortly in my shop. I hope you enjoy!

Hello and welcome to my new venture

Hi there and welcome to the new me!  Sit down, make yourself at home and enjoy the apples.
I decided a while ago that Spiralz was no longer a name that suited the type of work I produce.  As you are probably aware, there are thousand of spiral jewellery makers out there and I was just adding to the list of the "lost in (web) space" Spiralz.   So... I thought..lets change the name to try and encapsulate my brand of work.  The designs are relatively the same;  Unique, contemporary, stylish, quirky, handmade  resin and sterling silver; that tries to capture romantic Scottish themes in a contemporary fashion and  explore found objects from the Scottish shores and hills. I hope you will enjoy following the Kerfuffle blog, which will contain all  the crazy shinnagans that I will and have created.
Bear with me whilst I stock up my shop and gallery, it will take a few days for me to screw my techno head on and sort it all out.
By the way there is one of the pins up for sale on my shop so far!
